The LRF and other legal assistance providers, aware that self-actors in courts need legal advice and guidance, are operating help desks at the courts. Clients are advised on the processes and procedures in court to help smooth their path as self-actors, as well as providing them with appropriate referrals.

The venture was deemed successful after a pilot project and the LRF is now coordinating the expanded partnership with Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, Women and Law in Southern Africa and Justice for Children to provide legal assistance to self-actors at nineteen courts around the country. The desks are proving to be popular with clients, most of whom have to approach the courts with little or no understanding of how to proceed in the complex legal world as they seek justice.
